The Sydney Test is the traditional New Year Test and the customary final match of the summer’s Ashes or international Test series — held every early January at the Sydney Cricket Ground, one of Australia’s oldest and most atmospheric grounds.
What to Expect
- Five-day Test match starting in early January each summer
- Day 3 is traditionally the Pink Test, raising funds for the McGrath Foundation’s breast cancer nurses
- Members’ and general admission areas, with tickets sold per day or as multi-day passes
- Public transport recommended — the SCG precinct gets very busy on Ashes years
Because it’s the traditional series-closer, the Sydney Test often carries extra weight in Ashes summers, and tickets for the Pink Test day sell especially fast.
