The stay
The accommodation runs on solar and tank water without rationing comfort — fireplaces, deep couches, verandahs into the trees — and the Kangaroo River at the bottom of the paddock is the best swimming pool in the valley.

Kangaroo Valley village and its pie shop are 20 minutes back down the river road past Hampden Bridge, with the escarpment’s waterfalls — Fitzroy, Belmore, Carrington — circling the valley rim.
