Malabar Headland National Park, on the clifftops between Malabar and La Perouse, is one of Sydney’s newer national parks — former military land now open to walkers, with open heathland tracks running right along the ocean cliffs.
What to Expect
- Walking tracks across open coastal heath with several clifftop viewpoints
- Limited street parking around Franklin St, Malabar
- No facilities within the headland itself — it’s still a fairly undeveloped park
- Close to La Perouse for food and toilets afterward
Because it was closed military land until relatively recently, Malabar Headland still sees far fewer visitors than Sydney’s better-known lookouts, which makes for an uncrowded whale-watching walk.
