Gerringong’s farmland does something almost nowhere else in NSW manages: the cow paddocks run right to the sea cliffs. Ocean Farm sits in this improbable green-on-blue country just south of Kiama, close enough to Sydney for a Friday-night arrival and rated 4.9 stars by the guests who beat you to it.

The setting
This is the Kiama coast’s signature landscape — Norfolk pines, rolling headlands, surf below the paddocks. Werri Beach and the Gerringong headland walk are minutes away, and in the winter and spring migrations you can watch whales pass from the farm gate side of the fence.
Around the farm
Kiama’s blowhole and coast walk are 15 minutes north; Berry’s main street 15 south; and the surf-and-fish-and-chips circuit of Gerroa and Seven Mile Beach in between. The Gerringong cellar doors make an easy afternoon.
