The setting
Pick your shape: a dome with a proper bed and sculpted timber interior, or a simpler bell tent under the gums. Hammocks, fire pits and paddock views do the heavy lifting; phone reception does mercifully little.
Around the valley
Terrigal, Avoca and the Skillion are about 40 minutes east when you want a beach day, and the rainforest cascades of Somersby Falls are half an hour south — but the valley itself is the point.
