Every September, Corbett Gardens plants a solid carpet of 80,000 tulips and the Southern Highlands’ prettiest town becomes a photography pilgrimage. The rest of the year the gardens carry on quietly with roses, hedged walks and mature exotic trees — but Tulip Time is the show couples travel for, and bookings fill accordingly.
Tulip Time tactics
Come on a weekday in the festival’s first week, right at gates-open, for clean beds and empty paths. Low morning light through the blooms gives the trademark glow; kneeling to flower height compresses colour into every frame. Off-season, the garden’s arbours and autumn trees still shoot beautifully with zero competition.
Practicalities
Festival entry is ticketed (free off-season), and Wingecarribee Council handles wedding-photography bookings for the gardens. Bowral’s cafes, and the Highlands’ wineries and hedged estates, fill out a full-day shoot itinerary — pair with Hampden Bridge down the mountain, and see more photography spots.
