The Snowy Mountains have surprisingly little glamping, which makes Freaks of Nature Retreat at Frost Creek a find: safari tents in the tussock country just outside Jindabyne, with Kosciuszko National Park up the road. It is a newer arrival — a perfect 5.0 from its first handful of Google reviews.

The setting
The tents are properly kitted for alpine air — real beds, heating, decks with a spa and fire pits for the end of a mountain day. Summer means wildflowers and mountain-bike legs; winter means first tracks at Thredbo or Perisher and a hot soak after.
Around Jindabyne
Jindabyne’s lake and brewery are about ten minutes away, and the Kosciuszko Alpine Way starts just past town — with the Snowy Mountains Highway looping the high country beyond.
