Carrington Falls is the third point of the Southern Highlands waterfall triangle — and for many locals, the best of the three: fenced lookouts perched close to the drop, picnic spots under the casuarinas, and a fraction of Fitzroy Falls’ foot traffic.
Why it’s special
The lookouts here put you nearly on top of the falls — you feel the spray on a big-flow day. Missingham Lookout and the Falls View platforms each frame the drop differently, and the ten-minute loop between them passes upland swamp that lights up with wildflowers in spring.
Getting there
Turn off Jamberoo Mountain Road onto Cloudehill Road, ten minutes east of Robertson. The short gravel section is 2WD-friendly. From the picnic-area car park it’s a five-minute walk to the first lookout.
Need to know
Swimming is at Nellies Glen, a signed waterhole a short drive back towards the road junction — not at the falls themselves.
The gorge edges are fenced for good reason; keep children close.
