Upper Ebor Falls beside the Waterfall Way, New England NSW

Waterfall Way

Wollomombi, Ebor, Dangar and the Dorrigo rainforest in one 170km ribbon between Armidale and the Coffs coast — the drive many call NSW’s best.

FreeFamily

Between the New England tablelands and the Coffs coast, the Waterfall Way earns its name every twenty minutes: Wollomombi, Ebor, Dangar and Crystal Shower falls all sit within cooee of the bitumen, stitched together by World Heritage rainforest and dairy-green valleys. Many call it NSW’s best drive; nobody calls them wrong.

The route

From Armidale the road crosses the escarpment at Wollomombi (one of Australia’s highest falls), passes Ebor Falls’ twin drops, and coasts into Dorrigo — home of the Rainforest Skywalk and Dangar Falls — before plunging down the mountain to Bellingen and the sea.

Need to know

  • Drive it east-bound (Armidale → Coffs) so the big descent and coastal reveal come as the finale.
  • Fuel and coffee cluster at Armidale, Ebor, Dorrigo and Bellingen.
  • The Dorrigo mountain section is steep and winding — take the truck warnings seriously.

Pair it with our swimmable waterfalls guide and the waterfall directory.
